LinuxMint Touchpad/Wireless
LinuxMint Touchpad/Wireless Not Working After Install (Updated)
Systems: Dell Inspiron 600m with Pentium M 1.7 GHz, LinuxMint 13 (MATE)
Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with i5-2520M 2.5 GHz, LinuxMint 13 (MATE)
Symptom: Wireless card and touchpad worked while using the LiveCD, but they stopped working after installation. There was an error during install, but the system booted fine. lspci -v
showed detection of wireless card, but modprobe -l
didn’t work because the kernel modules directory didn’t contain anything.
Solution: The installation of the kernel was probably interrupted, so I reinstalled the kernel (apparently, it wasn’t marked as installed): sudo apt-get install linux-image-3.2.0-XX-generic
where XX is the number I see in the first entry in grub when I boot. Now both the touchpad and the wireless work. Note: Ethernet connection required, since wireless wouldn’t work and I didn’t have the package on my computer yet.
