Quantum Relationship I
March 12, 2007
A relationship with someone of the opposite gender is analogous to a quantum mechanical variable. Probing the state of the relationship is like making a measurement. Once you measure it, its wavefunction collapses and is locked in that state (barring external influence). While you gain more information, it loses all probability of being in another state. The question is, would you measure it? If you hadn’t measured it, the system could evolve so that the probability of being in a better state increases with time. So should you ever measure it?
Is it better to have an innocent friendship without ever finding out whether there was the chance for it to grow into a romantic relationship, however much you wanted to know? Or is it better to take the chance and risk ruining something that is beautiful, after which you could not hope of ever repairing it?
God is sovereign. May He be merciful.
